Marc Durivage is a presence. Not the kind that smacks you in the face, but moves like a soft blanket of low fog on a moor and enhances your vision. His love of French deco furniture appeals to the minimalist and the traditionalist alike. He has a way of taking the unusual and placing it in your home to give it divine status. I fell in love with his original paintings as well. Often sold to his décor clientele, they are rich, vibrant whimsical and world- class. I got all this from his Instagram posts.
All this immediately inspired me to make a piece for him. He said in consultation that he loved black roses, and that was all I needed to hear. I made a custom harness necklace with black roses, cicada, and Indian clay beads. The custom piece also includes a rhinestone butterfly that represents the iconic Harley Davidson wings. In the past, I have supplied Paramount Studios with jewelry and have made some rather showy pieces, but this had to be perfect in its own way and reflect the beauty I saw in Marcs’ work and paintings, as well as the whimsy in his personality.
